Drunk Driver Causes 5-Vehicle Accident, Kills 1, Injures 2 Others In The Bronx
A drunk driver caused a five-vehicle accident while speeding in his SUV in the Bronx in the early morning hours of Saturday, February 3. The incident occurred at around 2:50 a.m. and resulted in the death of one motorist and injuries of two others.
According to the police, 54-year-old Andres Mayora was speeding in the northbound lane of Bronx Park East in Parkside when he crashed into the rear end of 31-year-old Shiquan Dunn’s silver Nissan Altima. This sent the Altima spinning into a white 2017 Altima, which was attempting to turn onto Bronx Park East from Burke Ave. Then, the Jeep spun about 100 feet from the site of impact, striking two parked cars and finally crashing into a tree.
Dunn was killed in the accident, and two women suffered injuries. The driver of the Jeep has been charged with driving while intoxicated.
Man Killed In Major Deegan Expressway Car Accident
One man was killed in a fiery car accident on the Major Deegan Expressway in the Bronx on the morning of Saturday, January 13. The accident occurred around 3:15 a.m. near 161st Street in the Highbridge section of the borough. When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they found a white Mercedes flipped over and on fire.
The 47-year-old male driver of the Mercedes was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. According to the police, the Mercedes was driving side-by-side with a Lincoln SUV near exit 7 at the Cross Bronx Expressway when the two vehicles collided.
The Mercedes ran off the road into a grassy area and crashed into the wall of the exit ramp. The driver of the other vehicle refused medical treatment at the scene.
Bronx Man Arrested For Cocaine Possession After Crashing Car In New Rochelle
State police arrested a Bronx man for possession of cocaine after a one-vehicle accident on I-90 in the City of New Rochelle on Monday, January 8. Authorities responded to the scene of the accident at about 1:05 a.m. After interviewing the 36-year-old male driver from the Bronx, they determined that they had probable cause to search the driver and vehicle. During this search, they discovered .02 ounces of cocaine and determined that the driver was in violation of a valid court order. The man was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree and criminal contempt in the 2nd degree.
