Motorcyclist Dies After Accident With Intoxicated Driver
On Saturday, July 15, 2017, a Bronx man died after a motorcycle accident took place in Pelham Gardens. According to police, the accident took place close to 9 p.m. near the intersection of Eastchester Road and Pelham Parkway North.
Police stated that a 31-year-old motorcyclist failed to correctly navigate the roadway as he headed toward Eastchester Road. His navigation failure caused him to fall off his bike and slide under an SUV that was stopped at a red traffic light.
The 63-year-old SUV driver from Yonkers stayed on the scene of the accident. The driver was rushed to the hospital as he was unconscious and unresponsive after the incident. He was later pronounced dead.
Although the SUV driver did not directly cause the motorcyclist to crash, he was charged and arrested for a DWI. At this stage, it is not clear if there are also charges pending against him in the crash.

Bicyclist Involved In An Accident With Police Car
In Syracuse, N.Y. a bicyclist was involved in an accident on Monday, July 17, 2017, with a police car.
According to reports, two Syracuse police officers were responding to an emergency call just after 5 p.m. when they crashed with a bicyclist. Witnesses of the crash said they heard the collision and saw the bicyclist lying still in the street and his bicycle a few feet away in a yard.
The police officers got out and one officer tried to help the man while the other officer controlled traffic as they waited for Syracuse firefighters and paramedics to arrive.
The cyclist was taken to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse by an American Medical Response ambulance. He was in critical but stable condition. The police officers had minor injuries.
It is not clear what led to this collision and Syracuse police are investigating the accident.
Family Of Five Hospitalized After Crash With A Pickup Truck
On Sunday afternoon on July 16, 2017, a family of five was struck by the driver of a pick-up truck in Cattaraugus County. The family is in hospital in Buffalo.
Authorities stated that the accident happened when a pick-up truck collided with the family’s parked van as they were leaving a yard sale a little after 4 p.m.
Two children were believed to be in the parked van and another child was close to the van with their parents. The driver of the pick-up truck is the son of the yard sale hosts.
Both parents were also hit in this collision and taken to ECMC, while the three children were taken to Women and Children’s Hospital. All are in stable condition.
An investigation is underway by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team as they work out what led to this accident. No charges have been filed and toxicology results are pending for the pick-up truck driver.
Woman Killed In A Three-Vehicle Car Crash
On Sunday, July 16, 2017, a woman was killed in a crash that involved three vehicles in Herkimer County.
According to troopers, the 46-year-old woman was killed after she was ejected from a motorcycle. The motorcycle accident was caused by a van that had stopped while attempting to make a left turn into a driveway, The motorcycle towing a trailer, rear-ended the van.
Both the driver and passenger of the motorcycle were ejected from the bike. The force from the crash between the two vehicles caused the van into another lane where it hit a Jeep.
The van driver was taken to Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown with minor injuries. Unfortunately, the motorcycle passenger died as a result of the accident.
An investigation of the accident is ongoing.
