This week we bring you a number of accidents that happened during the Memorial Day long weekend, including a terrible hit-and-run accident on Cross Bronx Expressway.
Pedestrian Killed On Cross Bronx Expressway In Hit-and-Run Accident
Police are having a hard time figuring out how many times a victim was hit by other vehicles on Cross Bronx Expressway. In the early hours of Sunday, May 28, police received calls of a pedestrian who had been hit on the busy expressway.
The man was struck and killed while walking on the Cross Bronx Expressway. The driver did not remain on the scene of the accident and authorities are searching for the person responsible for this fatal accident. When the police arrived at the scene of the accident they found an unidentified man who was unresponsive laying across the road. When the medics arrived, they pronounced him dead at the scene.
It has been determined by investigators that the man was walking on the northbound side of the expressway between Castle Hill Avenue and White Plains Road. He was hit by a number of vehicles and not one vehicle stopped.
An investigation of this terrible hit-and-run is underway and is being carried out by the NYPD’s Highway Collision Squad.
Two Bronx Men Die In Lebanon Car Crash
Two men from the Bronx were killed in an accident in Lebanon on Friday afternoon May 5, 2017. According to Troopers, a car heading eastbound veered over the westbound lane and moved into the westbound shoulder. The car ended up hitting several large trees and rolled over before finally landing on the roof.
As the car was rolling, the three people in the car were ejected from the vehicle. The two men a 43-year-old ad 42-year-old from the Bronx were pronounced dead. The third victim a 39-year-old also from the Bronx was taken to Hartford Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
It is not clear who was driving the car and troopers were asking for witnesses to come forward with any information involving the incident.

One Person Injured In Interstate 87 Crash In Westport, NY
A crash involving one person in the Town of Westport saw one person injured and transported by helicopter to University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington. According to State Police, the person crashed on Interstate 87 in the southbound lanes between exits 31 and 32 in the afternoon.
There were no immediate details as to what led to the crash or the condition of the injured person who was airlifted to the hospital.
Teen Severely Injured In Speed-Related Crash In Guilderland
On May 30, 2017, a teenager suffered serious traumatic injuries following a crash on Hurst Road. The 17-year-old was flown to Albany Medical Center Hospital.
Town police believe the crash took place due to speed. There were two other passengers in the car who were 16 and 17-years old respectively. Fortunately, they had non-critical injuries and were transported by ambulance to Albany Med. Furthermore, police do not suspect that alcohol was a contributing factor to this accident.
This accident prompted the school district to offer counseling to students who may have been affected by the it as the three accident victims attend Guilderland High School. In November 2000, two students from the same high school died in a car crash on the same road.
The police are still investigating this accident.
Man Collides With Semi Tractor-Trailer In Liberty, NY
A man from Girard was lucky to have suffered minor injuries after his car collided with a semi tractor-trailer on state Route 193 on May 30, 2017.
The 22-year-old man driving a 2005 Dodge Magnum when a 2016 Freightliner tractor-trailer attempting to make a left turn onto the Interstate 80 eastbound ramp crashed into him. The impact of the crash overturned the Dodge and blocked the northbound lanes of state Route 193. Fortunately, the Dodge driver was wearing a seatbelt.
The truck driver was cited for failure to yield while turning left.
