Berne Man Charged For Driving Drunk And Injuring His Passengers
A Berne man was charged with drunk driving on Saturday, June 18, 2017 after he crashed his pickup truck. The man was speeding when his pickup truck got off the roadway and ejected two of his passengers. The passengers were sent to hospital with serious injuries.
Police charged the man with misdemeanor DWI, aggravated vehicular assault, reckless driving and operating with a suspended registration, among other charges.
According to Albany County authorities, the Berne man was driving southward to the town of Westerlo when he lost control of the 1998 Ford Ranger pickup he was driving. His loss of control caused the truck to get off the roadway and roll over before coming to a halt in a stand of trees in a cow pasture.
The only reason this man was not ejected is because he wore a seatbelt and the other two passengers did not. An investigation is underway.
